Do you or someone you know have a felony conviction on his or her record? Felony convictions can be serious obstacles to getting a job, finding housing, obtaining legal immigration status, or qualifying for student aide or education tax benefits. Now with the passage of Proposition 47, an individual with a felony conviction for one of the following may qualify to have the conviction removed from his record and converted to a misdemeanor.
• Simple drug possession
• Petty theft under $950
• Shoplifting under $950
• Forging or writing a bad check under $950
• Receipt of stolen property under $950
